Google Toolbar

Our Rating:

This is a very good toolbar that was created by Google and can be attached to any browser. Google created this toolbar as an enhancement of your browser that connects it to Google's Search Technology. It has many useful features that come with it such as a built in search bar, bookmarks, auto fill, and of course popup blocking. It's a fairly good popup blocker that catches most of the common popups.

Pros

-Great Search Abilities
-Easy Use & Install
-Effective Popup Blocker
-Customizeable

Cons

-Lacks Security Features to Help Block Spyware
-Can Get Annoying Sometimes

Overall

The pop-up blocker works fairly well. Instead of seeing those annoying popups, you hear a small beep and see that the count of popups that have been blocked has increased. You can allow a pop-up to appear by holding the CTRL key while clicking the link that generates the popup. If you visit a site often and wish to see the popups on that site you can add the site to a special whitelist. This way you don't block the popups that you need to see.

You can download the Google toolbar for either Internet Explorer or Firefox. It can be found at http://toolbar.google.com

Quick Tip

If you are receiving popups without browsing the internet, that is a sure sign of a SPYWARE INFECTION! Free popup blockers won't be able to help you with this problem, you need to immediatley check your computer for spyware and get it removed.
