Alexa has produced a toolbar that tries to give you the best parts of the internet all in one. It combines the search abilities of Google, Amazon.com, Websters Dictionary, etc. to give you a wide variety of search possibilities. It has other features besides search, such as website traffic ranking, and it provides detailed information about the site you're visiting.

Overall

Alexa is the 'website information' company and it uses the search bar to help determine which sites get the most traffic and how each site is viewed. It's popup blocker is somewhat effective, but it's real target is gathering website information and helping your browsing experience.
